Diablo 4 Item Upgrades
The upgrade to an item lets players increase the level of equippable items like weapons, armor and trinkets over a certain threshold. You can upgrade items at any NPC that accepts the appropriate currency.
Upgrade components are inserted into equipment to offer attributes bonuses and other effects. Most upgrades are slot-restricted but some are universal.
Rerolling
A player can reroll an item upgrade in Diablo 4. This is accomplished by using the Level Up feature, which stops your game and shows four randomly-chosen upgrades. A script that examines an item's upgrade requirements before allowing the item to be upgraded is a different option. This is a good option for systems that have an extremely small number of upgradeable items and a few upgrade dependencies. A good example is a sword which can be upgraded from Sword +1 to Sword +2. A script could search for the Item Definition attribute for every upgrade, and then set the Item Status to "upgraded" to indicate that the upgrade was valid.
This solution is more flexible, but it requires some extra code. It's also not the best choice for extremely complex systems.
A second solution would be to allow players to upgrade their armor and weapons. These upgrades are referred to as reforges. They improve the stats of the item, while decreasing its cost. Costs
Upgrades to gear can boost its physical strength, spell power and health (for armor and rings) or add bonuses while it's in your inventory. You can either craft upgrade components or purchase them from vendors. They can also be looted or dropped by other players on the Trading Post, or as a reward. Upgrade components can be inserted into weapons, armor and trinkets. They can also be slid on gathering tools. Most upgrade components can only be replaced with an Upgrade Extractor. The only exception is the glyphs. These are salvageable using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or the Ascended Salvage tool.
Depending on the kind of item, upgrading it may cost Dilithium or gold. In addition, some upgrades require Flightstones and/or crests. The amount of crests or Flightstones required to upgrade an item varies on the gear's level and a maximum upgrade level is established by Blizzard. The upgrade to the highest level can be costly especially if you're upgrading PvE gear.
Upgrades can also modify a weapon's ammunition, or damage die size. They also can alter the special characteristics of a weapon, such as its unwieldy or operational property, or hand requirement. Some upgrades can change the appearance of the weapon.
While increasing stats is the primary purpose of upgrades to items but you should take into consideration the costs associated with upgrading an item before making an investment. Spend your gold on rare items, and not on items that are of the common or magical level. The upgrading of these items wastes valuable resources, and you'll discover that rare gear is superior to them.
If you're uncertain about whether an upgrade is worth it Ask your fellow guild members for their advice. You might be able to get better upgrades for less costs. It's a good idea to upgrade your equipment as early as you can as the upgrades will become more costly as time passes. If you're unable to afford the cost of upgrading It's best to wait until you can. This will allow you to reach your potential.
